Description Kitchener Executive Consultants Inc. has partnered with a growing and innovative designer and manufacturer of custom fabricated products in their search to add the talents of a Shop Leader to the organization. This is an opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing leader who thrives in a fast-paced, custom fabrication environment where no two projects are exactly alike. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role overseeing daily shop operations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring projects move efficiently from fabrication through to assembly and shipment.

Working closely with senior leadership, the Fabrication and Assembly Leader will coordinate daily production activities, supervise shop personnel, organize workflow priorities, and ensure the shop floor operates safely and efficiently. This role combines leadership with technical involvement and requires someone who enjoys being actively engaged on the production floor. Responsibilities include overseeing fabrication, welding, fitting, assembly, receiving, inventory of shop consumables, equipment maintenance coordination, vehicle servicing, workstation organization, prototype development, and supporting product improvements through collaboration with engineering and design teams. The Shop Floor Leader will also champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity while reducing waste throughout the operation.

Our ideal candidate brings several years of manufacturing leadership experience together with strong supervisory abilities and a solid technical background in fabrication and welding. Experience with MIG, TIG, aluminum welding, fitting, assembly, overhead cranes, forklifts, and general shop operations is highly desirable. Candidates who enjoy solving problems, improving manufacturing processes, and leading by example will be particularly successful. Strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities are essential. Prior experience within custom fabrication, structural steel, digital displays, or related manufacturing environments would be considered an asset.
