Buyer

Project ID: 10649

Location Cambridge, ON, Guelph, ON, Kitchener, ON
Description Our client is a well-established Canadian manufacturer and assembler of mechanical systems, supplying customers across a diverse range of industrial markets. As our Client continues to strengthen its operational and supply chain capabilities, they are searching for a Buyer to join the Materials team at their local manufacturing facility. Known for its commitment to quality, operational excellence, and long-term employee retention, our Client offers a stable and rewarding environment where purchasing professionals can make a visible contribution to business success.

Within this high-mix manufacturing environment, the Buyer will take ownership of sourcing and procurement activities for a wide variety of direct materials, manufactured components, and outsourced services. This role extends beyond traditional purchasing responsibilities and will play an important part in supporting production requirements, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely availability of materials required to meet customer commitments. Working closely with Production, Engineering, Planning, and Operations, the Buyer will be responsible for negotiating with suppliers, purchase order management, inventory support initiatives, vendor performance monitoring, and identifying opportunities to improve cost, quality, and delivery performance throughout the supply chain. The Buyer will also contribute to outsourcing initiatives involving subcontract manufacturing, secondary processing, and external assembly operations as the company continues to refine and strengthen its supplier network.

Our ideal candidate will bring 3+ years of purchasing or buying experience within a manufacturing environment, with exposure to mechanical components, fabricated parts, raw materials, or industrial products. Success in this role will require strong analytical abilities and negotiation skills as well as the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems is essential, while familiarity with platforms such as Sage, SAP, or Oracle would be considered an asset. This is an opportunity for a supply chain professional ready to expand their responsibilities, influence supplier performance, and contribute to the continued growth and success of our Client's manufacturing organization.

Our Client’s preferred Salary Target is $67 000 - $76 000 and we encourage all applicants interested in this opportunity to apply. Please note, the hiring salary will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and ability to support the organization.
